About this Event

Explore textiles and design in this theoretical and hands-on, practical course led by Nottingham Contemporary resident artist Charlotte Tupper.

Using Pia Camil’s exhibition as a starting point, we will introduce you to different aspects of textile design, investigating colour, form, scale, pattern and composition to support you in developing visual ideas to create your own portfolio of works.

Please note that you will have to commit to all four sessions, but we can be flexible in case you have to miss one or two.

This event is part of Collabor-8, Nottingham Contemporary’s Youth Programme and is open to anyone aged 15-25.

Course breakdown:

Week 1 (Tue 17 Jul): Develop visual ideas for contemporary textiles in response to imagery, colour and pattern.

Week 2 (Tue 24 Jul): Construction skills and fabric manipulation.

Week 3 (Tue 31 Jul): Garment design: Deconstruct and reconstruct.

Week 4 (Tue 7 Aug): Garment design: Deconstruct and reconstruct.
