About this Event

The “nightingale of the desert”, Reshma left a legacy not only of music but also of her belief in that music knowing no borders. The UK Asian Film Festival celebrates her life, legend and legacy with a tribute concert featuring a performance from well-known Urdu poet and folk singer Minu Bakshi. With her unshakeable talent, Bakshi brings the “voice of passion” which epitomised Reshma’s quintessential style. Lovers of music and cinema can look forward to hearing classics like “Lambi Judai” , “Mast Qalander”, “Akhiyaan Nun Rehn De” and a host of other favourites from the revered legend whose songs will live forever on both sides of the border.

Minu Bakshi is accompanied by Asif Raza. Asif Raza: Mr Raza has been on stage singing since the age of six in Karachi. Learning music from SB JHON, Mehdi Hassan and Sohale Rana, Asif took his career to London in 1999 to begin learning with Jagjeet Singh Sahab. With three albums, singing in films, Asif is considered a versatile singer having explored folk song, new and old Bollywood, ghazal, Qawali and Pakistani songs. Winner of the Sa Re Ga Ma International prize in 1998.
