About this Event
Join us to celebrate our new exhibition, Desire, love, identity: exploring LGBTQ histories, a British Museum exhibition exploring LGBTQ (lesbian, gay, bisexual, trans, queer) histories, experiences and lives.
Featuring incredible and rare objects from ancient civilisations right up to the present day, including a series of David Hockney etchings and the Ain Sakhri Lovers, the oldest known sculpture of a couple making love, which dates back to around 9000 BC.
The exhibition was originally launched in 2017 at the British Museum in London to mark the fiftieth anniversary of the passing of the Sexual Offences Act, which partially decriminalised homosexuality in England and Wales.
