Crosswords Spoken Word Open Mic, Malt Cross
7:30pm (for an 8pm start)
Crosswords is a fab little spoken word open mic night, that takes place in the caves underneath the Malt Cross Pub on St James’ Street. There are plenty of open mic slots and a featured poet every month! In July, our featured performer is the very wonderful Neal Pike!
Neal is Nottingham-based poet and performer. A former Mouthy Poet, Neal likes music. He sometimes writes about it. He writes about many things. Pulling tiny things into even smaller shapes. His poetry is lyrical and thought-provoking, introspective with a sharp and relatable wit. His first live literature show, Five Years, is currently in production, and if we’re lucky, he might even read us some poems from it!
Arrive at Crosswords from 7:30pm on the night to book your short open mic slot. We like poetry, prose, storytelling, a cappella singing, and monologues! Or you can just come along to listen – everyone's welcome! Entry is £2 per person and refreshments are available.
NB: there are over forty steps down to the caves, some of which are uneven and steep.
