Join us for special launch activities to celebrate the opening of our new Ancient Egyptian Gallery!
Our family friendly launch day will have Ancient Egyptian inspired activities and the first chance to see our new gallery space, re-located to the first floor of the museum.
The Egyptian gallery houses the most significant collection of Ancient Egyptian artefacts in the East Midlands. The collection includes finds from archaeological excavations carried out in the very early 20th century, as well as mummies sent to Leicester from Egypt by John Mason Cook – the son of the travel pioneer Thomas Cook.
