About this Event

Mix a Hitchcock masterpiece with a juicy spy novel, add a dash of Monty Python and you have this intriguing, thrilling, riotous and unmissable comedy. The show hurtles a notorious fugitive and a spellbound blonde from a London music hall to Scotland's most remote highlands. Will they save Britain from a den of devious spies? A cast of four actors play over 150 characters in this fast-paced tale of an ordinary man on an extraordinarily entertaining adventure. The 39 Steps contains every single legendary scene from the award-winning movie - including the chase on the Flying Scotsman, the escape on the Forth Bridge, the first theatrical bi-plane crash ever staged and the sensational death-defying finale in the London Palladium.

In 1930s Britain, young bachelor Richard Hannay sits bored in his London Apartment. Hannay decides that evening to go to the theatre and watch the brilliant Mr.Memory, a man with a photographic memory. Halfway through the performance a fight breaks out, and in the ensuing panic Hannay finds himself bringing a frightened Annabella Schmidt to his flat. Back at home he discovers that she is a spy and she claims to have uncovered a plot to steal British military secrets, implemented by an underground organisation, led by a man with a missing finger. Her only hope is to travel to Scotland and deliver a message to Professor Jordan. In the morning, before she leaves, Annabella Schmidt tells Hannay to find Jordan and deliver that message of "The 39 Steps", before she dies in his arms.

Now Hannay, blamed for the murder of Miss Schmidt, must complete her mission by travelling across the country to deliver this message whilst fleeing the police, the mysterious organisation, and the unfortunate situations he constantly falls into. Will Hannay evade capture? Will he escape the boredom responsible for landing him in this situation? And what on earth are "The 39 Steps"?!
